These questions were posed in the Live Shows calendars (the associated date in parenthesis). I don't try to ask extremely obscure questions, rather I stick to more significant connection and/or "historical" type questions - trivia doesn't have to be trivial. At this point no prizes are offered - other than the sense of pride in knowing the correct answers :-)

1. Here's a not-so-locally based one, but she's in town this week: Who is Toni Tennille? (May 17, 1996)
   Answer: Toni Tennille is the same Tennille as in Captain and Tennille (Remember "Muskrat Love?")

2. What was the name of the predecessor of the Kool Kat Club? (May 20, 1996)
   ANSWER: Kool Kat Club was previously Crazy Mama's. If I remember right, Mama's was actually the longest running dance/night club in the States, er something like that.

3. What is Don B's favorite song and on what record is his mug featured? (May 24, 1996)
   ANSWER: Don B. is the 54 year young guy you've probably seen do "Batman" with tons of bands. He also does "Gabba Gabba Hey" and "Louie Louie." Then there's the time he did "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" at a Bernie's Karoake night years ago ... Oh, he was on the cover of Shave the Baby - a comp of Datapanik (a local label) 7 inchers.

4. What members of Honk, Wail & Moan (past & present) were/are in Mary Adam 12 (past & present)? (May 27, 1996)
   ANSWER: The Mary Adam 12-Honk, Wail & Moan connections are so numerous that it would probably be easier to list the not-connected. Anyway, MA12's drummer John, guitarist John, sax/flute man Kris and trombonist Brian were all regular members of HW&M at one time or another. MA12 keyboardist Michelle has done some guest vocals. I've seen 'em share a second percussionist recently too. Gus, MA12's one time manager, says all the members have played with HW&M at some point.

5. Since the Union Station seems to be doing its last live show, who can tell me what is painted on the outside of the building and why? (May 31, 1996)
   ANSWER: The Union Station Cafe has a large train mural on its South side. Why? Up until about 15 years ago the Covention Center/Parking lot area was a train station - a fairly regularly used passenger train station at one time.

6. What major label was Willie Phoenix once signed to? (June 21, 1996)
   ANSWER: A reliable source (Kyle) says Willie Phoenix was on A&M.

7. Where did Moody Jackson get its name? (June 24, 1996)
   ANSWER: Route 315 is also known as the Moody-Jackson Parkway ... er somethin' like that.

8. What do Big Back 40 and Magnificent Souls have in common? (June 28, 1996)
   ANSWER: The bassist and newish drummer for Big 40 and the guitarist/vocalist for Mag Souls were in Greenhorn together along with Bush League's guitarist/vocalist.

9. What school and state did the movie Heathers take place in? (July 1, 1996)
   ANSWER: Heathers took place in Ohio at Westerberg High. I believe it was loosely based on some Ohio school (Westerville High?).
   What do the Econothugs and Knumskull share? (July 5. 1996)
   ANSWER: The answer I was looking for was that the Econothugs share a drummer and a guitarist with Knumskull. I believe they also share a practice/ recording space.

10. What musician and tour/year does the film Don't Look Back follow? (July 8, 1996)
    ANSWER: Don't Look Back follows Bob Dylan's 1965-era tour. I expected at least one person to guess Boston... They canceled their tour, silly.

11. What is WIND-UP BUTTER COW? (July 12, 1996)
    ANSWER: WIND-UP BUTTER COW is a zine. The brand new "The All-Ohio Issue" looks really nice and has tons of Ohio music and "culture" stories, reviews and interviews. Look for it or try emailing .

12. What groups are The High Life closely connected to? (July 15, 1996)
    ANSWER: The High Life has members of Rymocerous, Burlap Sun, Ouchcube, Bumble Flea, Ohio Industrial Hemp & Medical Use Coalition and probably a few others.

13. What is a New Duncan Imperial? (July 19, 1996)
    ANSWER: The original New Duncan Imperial was a yo-yo.

14. Where does Heavy Weather come from? (July 22, 1996)
    ANSWER: Heavy Weather is from the Cincy area.

15. Where is Over the Rhine from, and where did they get their name? (July 26, 1996)
    ANSWER: Over the Rhine is another Cincy group. Their name actually comes from an area of the Queen city.
