THE REVELERS - POP CULTURE REFERENCE?
Criminally neglected Cleveland band The Revelers tore the roof off of numerous Columbus watering holes a few years back, before disbanding to pursue other alleged "interests." (What, you mean people like stuff besides rock?) Word was that several major labels were nibbling to sign the band to a big, legally crippling recording contract before the end but, alas, it was not to be. In such situations, however, take hope: indie-rock cred may be just around the corner! That appears to be the case for The Revelers, as this month's Alternative Press magazine cites the band for releasing one of the top ten drinking albums of all time - Hard Times, Sunday Spirits! Check it out!

MIRANDA SOUND CD RELEASE PARTY
On Friday, March 23, 2001, local rock band Miranda Sound will be releasing their new CD (Baby Inertia) upon the world. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered right here in Columbus, Ohio, at Workbook Studio. A release show will be held that same night at Little Brother's, and will also feature performances by Stonevelvet and The Stepford Five.

FOUR BANDS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT?!? ROCK & ROLL!!!
New local hard rock/groove metal band Leveled will play their debut Columbus show at The High Five on Wednesday, March 21, 2001. Also appearing will be Diluted (from West Virginia), and two other Columbus bands, Voidgazer and Lift.

CANCELLATIONS AND CLOSINGS
CD 101 has cancelled The Acoustic Coffeehouse. To quote host Donna Mogavero, "Done, not one more, can't even say goodbye. Dropped ... Thank you all for your support all this time ..."

Also, as you may have read elsewhere, the 501 Jazz Bar closed it's doors last week. The owners hope someone can step in to take over the reigns. I've already heard a rumor that a "group of investors" is interested.

CRINGE.COM COMPILATION SUPPORT SHOW
Well, it's been years stewing, months talking and weeks planning, but it looks like Cringe has finally gotten around to putting together a CD compilation series. The first volume, Cringe.com/pilation v1.0, should be out in the Fall of 2001. We've also put together a series of support shows to pay for pressing the CDs.

The artist and band line up for the CD and related support shows includes: Bigfoot, The Bygones, Earwig, Tim Easton, Grafton, Guinea Worms, The Honeys, Jack Neat, The Jive Turkeys, The Marbles, The Media Whores, A Planet For Texas, Pretty Mighty Mighty, Rancid Yak Butter Tea Party, The Randys, Silo The Huskie, Superstar Rookie, Templeton, Tiara, The Townsmen and The Velveteens.

The first show is Friday, March 30, 2001 @ Oldfield's on High with Pretty Mighty Mighty, Jack Neat and The Randys.

See http://www.cringe.com/pilation/ for more info.

CRINGE RADIO AND EAR SHOT UPDATES
Well, I moved Ear Shot, complete with silly animated logo, to it's own section. You'll find it at http://www.cringe.com/issues/earshot/. I may even get to adding a new Ear Shot feature today.

Whew, I didn't realize how busy of a week it has been ... The Cringe Radio MP3 streams were also updated. They had been kinda static (sorry 'bout the pun) since about the time of the server switch. Plus the Now Playing and Recent Songs info wasn't working quite right. That's all fixed now. You'll find new songs from recent releases by F** Bomb, Leveled, The MoonDance Experiment, and Ravin Versus Flud and some older tunes from the Comfest 1997 CD, and The Evolution Control Committee.

And since I'm on the subject, anyone interested in becoming an official "Station Manager" for one or both of these streams? As always, contact us anyway ya can ...

- Joel
